Ya fue escogido por la redacción de 3DJuegos como el mejor juego del E3 2017, y ahora también lo hace el resto de la prensa internacional. Super Mario Odyssey ha logrado convencer a la crítica desplazada hasta Los Ángeles del 13 al 15 de junio con su colorida propuesta de acción, plataformas y mundo abierto.
El videojuego de Nintendo se impuso a títulos como Assassin's Creed: Origins, La Tierra Media: Sombras de Guerra, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus y Mario + Rabbids Kingdom battle. Precisamente, este último título fue otro de los grandes triunfadores del evento, cosechando el título a mejor nuevo lanzamiento y mejor videojuego de estrategia.
Otros premios destacados son el título deportivo de FIFA 18, imponiéndose a PES 2018, o el de mejor juego de conducción para Forza 7 y mejor hardware para Xbox One X.
